This washing machine is exactly what i was looking for, no bells or fancy whistles just a machine that can clean clothes!! I've had this machine a few weeks now & it is Definitely worth the money. I do a lot of research before I buy something & this one fit the bill!! The first washer was damaged in shipping, but they sent out a second one with no problems. when you call customer service you get a 'real' person who knows what they're talking about & not an automated system! Kudos on making a great washing machine with great customer service...will not hesitate to buy more appliances from US APPLIANCE! very happy

Am so happy to have a top loader again. The clothes cycle takes half the time of the front loader. No odor in the basket and lots of capacity. I wish I would have gotten rid of the front loader with the first service call instead of waiting for the third challenge.

I really like this SQ, it's just what I wanted it to be. We retired an 2005 Heavy Duty Super Capacity Plus Roper because of a leak and knowing what it's been through (3 boys). Didnt want to start repairing something thats been worked so hard. Started investigating machines now and wow times have changed. SQ has what we need; 1. Top load. 2. No digital, just simple knobs. 3. Agitator. 4. Stanless steal tub is a plus. 5. Can override water level if needed. 6. Cleans clothes 7. Quick regular cycle time. 8. Spins out clothes, smooth and dry. 9. Great warranty for piece of mind. 10. Strong construction. 11. Repair men I called recommended. My wife wanted her old Roper for the same money but the new Roper wasnt it. After convincing my wife this is what we wanted compared to the other top loads with no frills, she is extremly happy and so am I. Our opinion, this is the best quality washer for the money. I dont always wash clothes but when I do I do it with SpeedQueen stay clean my friends.

I was born in 1946. Every major appliance my parents bought when I was young lasted forever. No kidding, you had to finish them off with an axe. The assembly plants were they were built were mostly converted tank factories. This washer has that feel. The 50's weren't always the best of times, but the best of the 50's was pretty good. If you can afford a few extra bucks buy it!

After reading everything I could about Speed Queen I called them via phone. Oh my God I thought I was time warped back to 1952. On the 1st ring a LIVE person answers, " Linda may I help you", or what ever her name was. I called a 2and time and AGAIN a live person answered. Just be careful of Mid Western time. Like 9 AM is 6 AM there if you live on the east coast. The washer is TRUE Heavy duty with ALL metal gears. It is like it was built in 1952. It is heavy as a tank. BUY IT

Where has Speed Queen been all my life? My husband selected based on reviews and the long warranty, and I LOVE IT! It has reliable dial controls, not problem prone push-buttons that I have learn to hate. Tank is stainless steel, and has no ledges on top to allow dirt to accumulate. Lid, the entire cabinet is solidly built of heavier gauge sheet metal So far, I have not found one thing to dislike. I am one Happy Housekeeper!!

What a Washer Should Be?

4.0

PROS

  • Clean Clothes Well
  • Spins Clothes Dry
  • Large Capacity

CONS

  • Noisy

BEST USES

Comments:

This washer is great. It uses a reasonable amount of water to actually wash clothes - can you imagine!!!. It works very well because of this. It troubles me that I was so excited to try a new front loader years ago. After going through two of them in five years, dealing with clothes that smell the minute I start sweating in the summer time, dealing with dingy whites and the development of mold and mildew in the washer if it was not left with the door open I had enough. I began searching for the best washer and learned that it was back to the old school way through various reviews and internet research. However, there are a few issues as follows: 1. In what I'm assuming to be another go green effort, the water level is not what is should be for various settings. I'm not worried about saving water - I want my clothes clean. So I'm going to adjust the control sensor to completely cover the respective load. 2. There is a lint issue with dark clothes. I believe this will correct itself when I adjust the water level controls. The lint will disappear in the dryer, but if you are not drying some items it can be a pain. 3. The washer operates at a louder level than the front loaders. I will take the louder operation over dirty dingy clothes. 4. I would like to see Speed Queen add an automatic detergent dispenser versus just adding detergent to the tub before you add clothes. Does not really matter however, since it seems this washer is built like the old days to last 20 years or more. Overall the washer is so efficient at cleaning that you can actually turn the wash time way down for your cottons and whites. If you do use full cycles it will wear out towels much faster. Bottom line: The unit washes much faster than a front loader and really cleans the clothes much better.

This model of Speed Queen was not in stock, but it was delivered within the 3 weeks stated as normal delivery time. I leveled it when installing and it does not shake. We have used this washer for 2.5 months and wash each week. It does a good job. We have no complaints, which is a positive thing considering the performance of many new appliances these days.

Comments:

One of a few Top Loaders that fit a 26 inch space. Spin cycle was VERY loud at first. Something inside was vibrating against another part. After a few weeks of use it has quieted significantly and is acceptable (its now quieter than our previous old Maytag). Cleans well and spin dry works very well. I don't like the fact that they adjusted the water levels way down for efficiency ratings so the largest setting -- Extra-Large is really not full and Small is unusable. I haven't done it yet but the water level sensor can be adjusted by a handy person (if you search for the instructions). Despite this the washer can handle a Queen size bedspread and similar sized items.

Comments:

Tried the front load energy efficient washers. Took an hour and a half to wash a load of clothes and they came out stinky! Looked for an "old school" agitator style washer. Found this one and could not be happier. Loads are done and CLEAN in 15-20 minutes. Washer is quiet, easy to use and sturdy. Warranty from Speed Queen is better than any other on the market. Highly recommend this washer.
