Not Truly Panel Ready

Comments:

We were very excited about this refrigerator - until delivery. You won't see this on the showroom floor and you can't really see from the pictures that this product is NOT truly a panel ready deign. There is a 1/2" stainless steel frame surrounding all four panels like a picture frame. We were looking for a seamless look to blend the refrigerator in with the rest of our black cabinets by using the panel ready design. Now I have silver frames highlighting each of the four panels. Kitchenaid is not up to date with their panel ready design like Thermador or Subzero. We are deeply disappointed. I'm open to workarounds if someone has an idea. Request the "Installation Guide" and review the Install Overlay Custom Panels (which should say, Install Recessed Custom Panels) section prior to purchase to ensure that you are aware of this design limitation.

Best Alternative for Sub Zero Replacement

Comments:

Our built-in Sub Zero was approaching 32 years of age. I already had it re-built once, replacing the compressors and my appliance repair guy wouldn't guarantee another re-build would hold temperature. The freezer finally went and I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find a replacement. Unfortunately, what may come as a surprise to many, the cost to replace a built-in is double or triple the cost of a stand alone or cabinet depth refrigerator. My options were Subzero, JennAir, Thermador or Kitchen Aid. The Kitchen Aid was the only one that allowed me to fit the new refrigerator in my old built-in space without major renovations and it was the least expensive, almost $4,000 less than the Subzero. Only have had it for a week but it works beautifully. It has more refrigerator storage space than my old unit and the lighting and controls are simple and well engineered. Only complaint is the ice maker is a little noisy when refilling but it only lasts for a few seconds.

French Door Refrigerator with Platinum Interior

Comments:

We love the look of the refrigerator, love the lights and color in the inside. The only thing I would change, is when you open the right door, you can not slide out any of the drawers, you have to open both doors. It would have been nice to at least open one of the drawers instead of opening both doors to retrieve anything. Also, there is a panel on the left door that is between the two doors, it bangs when you open it and can be broken easily if not closed correctly. We put pads on the panel, so now it doesn't bang. If those two designs were corrected, it would be the perfect frig, but we love it anyway.

Needed a replacement for a built in Quality of what's there is good but basically a bare bones fridge with a big price. Has fewer features than the LG I got for the cottage

Perfect Replacement

Comments:

With new refrigerators being 5 inches deeper this is an easy replacement for an older refrigerator. This model fits right into the space where our old refrigerator was, no need to reconstruct the space, it's a seamless appearance. So far all is well. I do miss the shelf on the door of my old Kitchen Aid that had a cover for my buttter

Comments:

Bought this unit about 2 months ago and while operationally it seems fine, the fit and finish doesn't seem to be up to snuff on an extremely expensive unit. Seams are shoddily assembled. The doors don't close properly except by pushing somewhat hard. Would not recommend.

Comments:

I purchased this new Refrigerator to replace the previous model lasted 12 years. There were 3 services for tiny leak in the last couple years. The only reason I have to replace it is because it was no replacement parts for the condenser. The exterior appearance and interior look really nice.
