PROS: This refrigerator has a very sleek look, and the stainless steel finish is very easy to clean. CONS: Chest freezers are notoriously difficult to find anything inside. And I have discovered that the two drawers are essentially two mini chest freezers. I cannot fit a single frozen pizza inside, and stuff on the bottom of the drawer just gets lost. It's quite easy for food to fall behind the drawer as you pull it out, which requires emptying the drawers, pulling them out, and then reaching down to find the food that's fallen. I would go with a side by side next time for better ease of access to the freezer compartment. Those drawers also mean that the refrigerator is quite limited vertically. I have difficulty storing tall items. The ice maker is CONSTANTLY getting stuck. I have to take out the bin and use my hand, which is hardly an automatic ice maker. The French doors are so designed that almost ever single time you close it, the mullion does not close properly, so you have to open it again and fiddle with. Gone are the days of simply shutting the fridge door without thought and planning. The tendency is for everyone in the house to close the fridge door by holding onto the door storage bins. Which means that in 4 years, 2 door bins have cracked completely off. The bins are quite flimsy. If you pull anything out, they are also easy to crack. There are two different dispensers for ice and water, but they are not side by side, which would have made them more user friendly. Instead, the water dispenser is in front of the ice dispenser. This is poor human engineering, so guests have to fiddle around with it to figure it out. I thought LG was a good brand, and at first I thought my fridge was just gorgeous. But beauty is as beauty does, and this appliance is disappointing.

Comments:

We liked the style of this model and some features but aside from keeping running, we were underwhelmed. Ice capacity is small, in my opinion. Figure on keeping the ice plus setting on all the time. We really liked the crushed ice feature but found in use that it tended to jam up the mechanism more than it's worth, so cube is the way to go. Also, the ice bin itself could use some beefing up, we experienced cracks in the bin within the first year. They don't stop it from working but show lackluster quality. The tempered glass on the bottom shelf cracked early on but didn't go so far as to completely break. The water filter is very accessible but it's not available lots of places, so when you find some, buy 2 or 3.

After having owned this refrigerator for several years, ice started building up in the floor of the freezer about every 3 weeks, and we needed to defrost it. We called an LG approved repair service technician. He fixed the problem, which had to do with a drainage system, which is a closed system (in other words, nothing we caused, but was apparently inherent in the design).

I have had the power board go out twice in two years and I have it on a surge protector. Even the technician can figure out why this continues.

Dec 31, 2012 My current refrigerator is dead and it is noted online as common LG refrigerator problem. I have power but the refrigerator has no power, no light, etc. The technician told me that the board is dead and has to be replaced. All of our food is melting and warming up. Cleaning up spoiled food is not fun â€" it was not worth a penny. This is the least reliable refrigerator that I have ever seen. I had another problem with the main fan, which died about 6 months ago and all the food spoiled. LG â€" has to improve product quality! It was a big mistake that I bought it for the design.

Comments:

My husband and I purchased this brand of refrigerator less than a year ago. The first item to break was the left side of the Glide and serve drawer door. Not sure how to order a new one or if you even can. Second item not real happy with is the bar on the french doors. You need to watch that it is in the proper position or the doors do not close completely.

the design of this fridge is nice. I like the double doors and double drawers, however I've had many problems with the ice maker. It flowed water into the ice to make a huge chunk. I replace the filter and within weeks the ice maker stopped working. Do not recommend based on quality.

I've only had for about 4 months but I am very impressed. The two drawer freeze is great and I store frequently used items in the top drawer. I do wish there were two shelves that you could push back for more taller items. Not a great place for wine bottles.

Comments:

I specifically bought this refrigerator for the ability to fill a water pitcher with ice/water from the front. It is the only one on the market that has that feature. Makes so much sense I am surprised others don't follow. This is my second LG french door refrigerator I have owned. I left the first one in the house I sold. I love love love them! This one has a different set up on the top for how the doors close. If you close the right side before the left, for some reason the flap on the left doesn't always go in the slot correctly & the door doesn't close. In just a bit it beeps so you know you didn't get it closed. Just a curiosity more than anything to me.
