This cooktop looks beautiful and was great at first. After only a few days three out of five burners do not work. After turning them on, the burners quickly shut off automatically. I can only use two burners on the left side which is very frustrating considering the price. Now I unfortunately have to wait for a GE service technician to come out which shouldn't be the case for an appliance of this price. I am not sure if this is an issue with GE's induction cooktop or appliances in general, but hopefully the former since I also bought their microwave/oven wall combination which was even more expensive.

This is my first experience with an induction cooktop. I love almost everything about it, size, style & cooking speed. The only reason I put 4 stars is the humming noise the stovetop makes when cooking. I turn on my fan to drown out the buzzing sound. I thought there was something wrong with the stove until I read about it. I still would buy this product again, even with the buzz. Other than that, I am extremely satisfied.

I love, love, love cooking with this. It is my first induction and exceeds my hopes. However, a tiny bit of pasta water spilled on the surface and I have not been able to get it completely clean. I had followed G.E.'s instructions to the letter, using Ceramabryte after each use in order to the cooktop. After the spill, I used the burnt on grease remover too, even though the stain is not a grease stain. There is still a slight haze where the spill occurred.

This is an amazing cooktop. The fact the glass doesn't get hot is great for kids.

It replaced an old GE range. Had to rewire for 50 amp service, but it was worth it. The cooktop heats big pots of water faster than anything else we have had. It also has 9 temperature selections and an indicator to tell you the unit is hot even when you finish cooking. The only thing it can't do is control for a specific temperature of the cooked stuff. You have to learn which setting to use.

I redid my kitchen two months ago and the designer talked me into this induction cooktop. Love how it heats up instantly and has 10 different temperature controls. Once you take the pan off the burner, it's not really hot to touch, so safe for little ones. No, you don't necessarily need to change all of your cookware. About half of mine still worked, and the ones I replaced needed replacing anyway. Easy to find inexpensive replacements. Also easy to clean since surface is completely flat. Don't recommend having a shelf above or too near, since anything falling could break any glass surface.

We purchased a 36 inch Profile induction 3.5 years ago. About a month ago the center burner started working only half, then another burner gives only partial cooking ability and then the two left burners brought up an error message and will not work. After two visits the company we bought it from decided that they would offer a buy out instead of fixing and told us that if we decide to fix it, it probably will break again and we should take the buyout, which only amounts to less than half of a new purchase price. So yes, we are very disappointed, but want to add we absolutely loved the cook top, but wish it would of lasted. Now what to do?

Saved my House

The safety feature that turns off the burners if they get to hot, saved my brand new house on Easter morning. I left my potatoes on high and headed to church, forgetting to turn them off. 2 hours later I remembered. They had boiled over, but were not dry and the burner turned off. I don't think any thing outweighs that safety feature. It isn't one I count on daily but in that moment, I had an Easter miracle of my own. Thanks GE

This is an amazing cooktop when it works. It heats up quickly, cools down quickly - fantastic! However I just registered my SECOND one with GE because 3 out of 5 burners stopped working after only 17 months!! I heard a loud POP and that was that. Luckily I purchased a warranty. The warranty company chose to purchase us a new cooktop rather than fix the broken one. An interesting choice that I don't totally understand. I am concerned that our new second cooktop will go POP in 17 months and I will be out a cooktop and $1500. So....GREAT cooktop. Buy a warranty for sure. GE - please fix this issue! You have an amazing product here but it needs to last many years for the cost!

This is our first induction cooktop, so bear that in mind when reading. Previously we had a 20-year-old electric glass cooktop. PROs: Dark top shows no stains. Food/water heats quite quickly on settings 6-10. Easy to operate. Excellent burner arrangement. No burned-on food! CONs: A little noisy (fan, "ticking" sound for cycling on). Scratches somewhat easily! (Scratched first day, with brand-new out-of-the-box cookware, and a few more since then.) Black top is mirror-shiny, which is hard to keep from streaking when wiping.

Great Cooktop (cleaning tip!)

Comments:

We have been using the cooktop for over a month now. Love the sleek look, no knob controls that make cleaning so much easier, adjustable burner sizes & griddle size burner, and the built-in timer feature that we use all the time for cooking pasta and rice. Initially, I was in complete agreement with the other reviewers/reviews about their disappointment with the difficulty in keeping the glass top clean and cooking splashes/spots not coming off - even with timely and vigorous cleaning. We were experiencing these same issues and with the same frustration & disappointment. It was so bad I even checked these reviews to see it was just us or if others were having these same issues and whether there were any tips and tricks to resolving. I even re-read the user's manual for cooktop cleaning tips - which said to use the sample "Cerama Brite" cooktop cleaner (with scrubber and scraper) that came with the cooktop before initial use which will aid in keeping the cooktop clean - we failed to do this! However, once we started using the "Cerama Brite" cooktop cleaner and scrub pad sample, the spots that wouldn't come off (with prior repeated cleaning) simply disappeared. REALLY. My husband and I were both stunned at what a difference this product made in the ease of cleaning the cooktop and in keeping it clean. So if you are having these same problems - use the "Cerama Brite" sample!!! Without Cerama Brite, I would give this cooktop 2 stars. Now that we discovered this cleaning trick - it now gets 5 stars!

We had to replace an older induction cooktop, and this one is working so well. It heats up quickly, and I like that we can run two burners at once if we need to us a griddle or grill pan. The timer is loud enough that I can hear when it goes off. My favorite thing about induction is that my kids can't hurt themselves by turning it on accidentally. It has to have the right metal on the burners to work.

Have used electric ranges most my life, other than a couple years in Europe with gas as well as the last 6 years with natural gas. Definately had become a huge fan of cooking with gas. This is our first go round with induction and we're in LOVE. This cooktop is simple to use with great control over cooking at all sorts of temperatures. One small annoyance, and I'm still doing research to see if it's an appliance issue, or something to do with our induction pans, but on occasion an induction unit (individual burner) will start to make a buzzing noise when in use. We've tried different pans on different burners in different combinations and it seems to be completely random. It's not always the same burner, or pan, nor is it every time we use the cooktop, etc...

I had this installed two weeks ago. We moved into a condo, and the cooktop was electric, no gas. I have only cooked on gas for the last 30 years, and do not care for electric. Let me tell you, when the installer put an inch of water into a saucepan and it was boiling 60 seconds later, I was impressed. Then I turned the heat down and the effect was instantaneous! I love this cook top.

I have only just installed the unit but I am so impressed by the controls and the efficient heat - within seconds I had a saucepan with boiling water, tested the safety features and was delighted! My husband is a licensed contractor and we replaced an older GE cooktop. He had absolutely no trouble with taking out the old unit - perfect fit! Both of us are very happy with the product so far.
