Induction is the way to go

This is a great range. The induction stovetop is incredibly efficient; I brought a large pot of water (about 2 gallons) to a boil in under 3 minutes. Plus, reduce the "heat" setting and the boil stops within seconds. It's nice to have the controls up front, and the controls are very responsive. This is the best stovetop I've ever used. The finish and build of the range seem to be of high quality. My only complaint is that GE doesn't offer a backsplash attachment (which a German competitor does), so now there's a blank space behind the range.

Well Built Induction Range

Comments:

I did some extensive research before purchasing this range, as all induction ranges are rather expensive. This one seemed to have all the features I needed, without a lot of extras I would never use. I was not disappointed - it works great while being simple to use. Several features that distinguished it from others: the heat settings on the range go in half steps from 1 to 10, so it is easy to get a setting with just the right heat. The controls are a glass panel that are touch operated, making the control area easy to clean an very accessible. The oven has 7 positions for racks, and it comes with an "extension" rack that I find convenient - it pulls out much easier than the normal friction racks that are standard on most ovens. The oven seems to be fairly accurate in temperature, and also fairly uniform. Also, common to all induction ranges, the cooktop heats extremely fast, and since the cooktop does not get hot (only as hot as the pan) spills do not get baked in, so the cooktop is very easy to clean. Some things to be aware of: The lowest setting for the oven is 170 deg. F, so you can't use the oven for proofing bread - at least not directly. The warming drawer is also too hot for this as well. The range seems to be designed to push up against a wall. I am using it in an island, and there is no simple way get the rear of the cooktop to blend in with the island surface - it looks a bit unfinished, but is not a serious issue for us, and a clever installer might be able to add some trim material to cover the gap that shows at the rear of the cooktop. The main weak areas for this range: The warming drawer is a bit flimsy in that it just feels like it is made of too thin sheet metal - in stark contrast to rest of the range which feels very solid. The oven also hits you with a blast of hot air when you open it, and I am not sure why this is worse with this oven than other ovens. I never noticed this with my previous Jenn-Air oven. You quickly learn to avoid standing…

I love the quick response of the induction top - fast to heat and fast to cool down. Love how easy it is to clean with the touch controls on the front. Very solid construction. Only negative is that is does NOT have a gray patterned top as the specs state - it's black glass just like all the others. We really wanted the gray to match the oven door and control panel - we were very disappointed.

This was installed about a month ago and I'm super excited about it. The induction top is like having a gas cooktop with the cleanup on a smooth electric cooktop. The convection bake works much better than the one I had years ago and the warming draw is a wonderful plus.

I bought this and installed it three years ago with my kitchen remodel. It has worked flawlessly, and I'm never going to be happy cooking any other way. It's clean, FAST, and efficient. What's more, the bottoms of your cookware won't get cruddy, either!! It's the most awesome way to cook, hands down!!

Better than Gas!

I had a gas stove prior to this, and while gas is controllable and preferable to a regular electric stove, induction is superior to gas. Amazingly adjustable, instant control and NO HOT SPOTS. You can even do a low simmer, all day long if you want or need to. Hopefully this range will last a very long time.

This is my first induction oven and I love it. I had wanted gas but the cost of adding in the gas line was too prohibitive so if I didn't get gas, so I wanted to try the induction range. Pluses: great stovetop cooking. It heats quickly and does not retain the heat once you turn off the stove. Cooking has more finesse than the typical electric range top. I love the feature in this model, the glass top extends past the side of the range so it sits on your counter top. It provides a clean look and the food does not run down the side of the range where you can't clean it. Cons: you need pots and pans with metal that has strong magnetic qualities. I had to buy new pots and pans (which i love) but you need to factor that in with your costs.
